Long ago,in a distant land
I decided to lend an extended hand
To a church in S.K.
They would let us play
And bond with one another
Letting us know that we should all call each other sisters and brothers
To erase the barriers of discrimination
I thought that this was a nice thing to do for each nation
That came together to preach or learn about God
I just found it odd
How the one I became friends with
Wasn’t sure if
She’d be able to roam
The open streets like the men who were also away from home
She had her passport held for safety concerns
And then there were those who said that they were able to earn
The blessing of the Lord to receive their baby
That wouldn’t sound too crazy
If they weren’t referring to the preacher as their savior
Then came the sermon on a past member’s behavior
Being strange and deranged before she died
They said she was hateful and that she lied
Able their evil motives
They said that they pleaded for her to go live
Away from where they reside
But she chose to commit suicide
At their retreat
Because of her conceit
She wanted to steal the glory
From their Lord’s story
I looked up the information they spoke of
And learned that this big happy place of love
Was one big cult
Some of us led a revolt
To get everyone who wanted to leave out
Once we were free, we told everyone about
The corruption of the place that wanted us to “Open, Connect, Change”
But we were labeled as deranged
Until documentaries were made years after
About their egregious disasters
