Many of my poems
Have found a home
On the pages you’ve opened
But I’ve only shared two blogs with intentions of letting the rope lend
Enough space for the bridge to draw
Freedom and new beginnings away from the fear that you once saw
I write to share my love for words
To have others feel heard
To create a sense of unity
Within our damaged community
To let Firefly know that I’ve knotted our strings of fate
To make sure that she’d be my soul mate
To inspire hope and peace
To be the stress release
Of those who have had enough
Of life being more rough
Than what was promised
I write to be remembered and seen long after I’m missed
I write for our rights
And to return some light to the dark of the night
Now that our stars are gone
I might not be the one others are willing to bet on
When it comes to creating a safe space to be who they’ve always been all along
But I’ll always write to let them know that they belong
